Baseball Recap: Western Christian Pioneers vs. Colton Vikings
Western Christian had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 1-13 to make it eight. They came up short against the Colton Vikings, falling 11-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-8 on Monday.
As for Colton, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-7. That ten run margin sets a new team best for them this season.
For Colton's part, Carson Weinberger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Weinberger also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Colton is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Weinberger was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Colton got a massive performance out of Jamison Mcgill Mcgill, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave Mcgill a new career-high. Avery Schroeder was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
While Western Christian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
