Softball Game Preview: Christchurch School Seahorses vs. Saint Gertrude Gators

The Christchurch School Seahorses will take on the Saint Gertrude Gators at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Saint Gertrude took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Christchurch School, who comes in off a win.

Last Monday, Christchurch School got the win against Miller School of Albemarle by a conclusive 11-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Seahorses.

Alivia Bruce made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Thomas, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5. Rylee Taylor was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Saint Gertrude fell victim to St. Catherine's and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Saints, falling 10-0. The Gators have struggled against the Saints recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Christchurch School's win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Saint Gertrude, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
