Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln-Way East Griffins vs. Troy Trojans

The Lincoln-Way East Griffins will face off against the Troy Trojans at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Lincoln-Way East is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Lincoln-Way East gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Maine South by a score of 8-4. With that victory, the Griffins brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Tyler Osmanski looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Evan Riiff, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Matthew Safarik, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Troy narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Kenton Ridge 10-9. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Troy's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Lincoln-Way East, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
