Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Troy

Troy took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Butler, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Trojans narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Aviators 7-6. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 9-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Alexis Ater was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Maddie Wright also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

The victory (which was Troy's fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Butler, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Butler will welcome Sidney at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Troy will be paying especially close attention to the Aviators' contest: after the Aviators faces off against the Yellowjackets, they'll take on Troy again at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
