Basketball Game Preview: Briggsdale Falcons vs. Eads Eagles

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Briggsdale Falcons challenge Eads Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Briggsdale sitting on three straight wins and Eads on 16.

Briggsdale is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They secured a 36-32 W over Caliche.

Kayl Klem continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 67% from the field to rack up 13 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 25 times she's played.

Meanwhile, Eads humbled Genoa-Hugo/Karval with a 56-26 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 23 points or more this season.

Eads found their leader in sophomore Anna Wollert, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 13 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tailee Weeks-Johnson, who posted 15 points.

Eads smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 23 consecutive matches.

Briggsdale's victory bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Eads, their win bumped their record up to 21-3.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Briggsdale has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Eads struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Everything came up roses for Briggsdale against Eads in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, as the team secured a 68-31 victory. Will Briggsdale repeat their success, or does Eads have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
