Baseball Game Preview: Mountain View Thunder vs. Evergreen Plainsmen

For the second straight game, Mountain View will face off against Evergreen. The Thunder will be playing in front of their home fans against the Plainsmen at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mountain View hadn't beaten Evergreen on the road since April 18, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. The Thunder put the hurt on the Plainsmen with a sharp 9-3 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Thunder have posted against the Plainsmen since April 13, 2022.

Nick Wilcox was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mountain View is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-10 otherwise. Wilcox was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Lucas Wolfley was excellent, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brendon Lawson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Evergreen dropped their record down to 6-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Mountain View, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.
