Preview: Bowie Bulldogs vs. McNeil Mavericks
The Bowie Bulldogs will face off against the McNeil Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Thursday, Bowie took a serious blow against Lake Travis, falling 66-14. Bowie has not had much luck with Lake Travis recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Bowie got a solid performance out of Cruz Tello, who rushed for 18 yards and two touchdowns.
Even though McNeil has not done well against Cedar Ridge recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. McNeil took their match at home with ease, bagging a 31-0 victory over Cedar Ridge. Given McNeil's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 188th, while Cedar Ridge is ranked 459th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Joshua Williams was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns.
Lake Travis' win bumped their season record to 8-2 while Bowie's loss dropped theirs to 4-6.
