The Pueblo West Cyclones will head out to square off against the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Pueblo West's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Mountain Vista's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Last Wednesday, Pueblo West earned a 7-4 victory over Vista Ridge. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cyclones.

Blake Mares was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Kaden Garcia was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jaiven Baca, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Mountain Vista got themselves on the board against Fort Collins on Thursday, but Fort Collins never followed suit. They skirted past the Lambkins 2-0.
Mountain Vista also got a great performance from Sawyer Tipton as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over 5.1 innings pitched. Tipton also tossed two walks, which is notable because the Golden Eagles are 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Spike Magill, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Pueblo West pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain Vista, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pueblo West has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mountain Vista struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
