Baseball Recap: Schlarman Hilltoppers vs. Cornerstone Christian Cyclones
Schlarman blew Cornerstone Christian out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Cornerstone Christian got their revenge. The Hilltoppers fell just short of the Cyclones by a score of 5-3. The Hilltoppers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cyclones apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.
Princeton Rush made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole seven bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Liam Billings was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and one double.
Schlarman's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Cornerstone Christian, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-1.
Schlarman and Cornerstone Christian will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Hilltoppers are set to challenge their familiar foe Cissna Park at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian will face off against rival Arthur-Okaw Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
