Baseball Game Preview: Parkway Central Colts vs. Northwest Lions

The Parkway Central Colts will head out on the road to take on the Northwest Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

On Friday, Parkway Central needed a bit of extra time to put away Priory. They had just enough and edged out the Ravens 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Colts have posted since May 15, 2024.

Dalton Pagel tossed a big game, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Carter Fleck was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of James Huff, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Northwest narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past North County 3-1.

The team relied heavily on Jackson Venatta, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. He also scored a run, marking his first of the season.

The victory was the third in a row for Parkway Central, bringing their record up to 4-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Northwest, their record now sits at 4-6.

Everything went Parkway Central's way against Northwest in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Parkway Central made off with a 7-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colts since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
