Highland won the last time they faced Stockdale and things went their way on Friday too. The Scots walked away with a 20-12 victory over the Mustangs. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Scots.

Highland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Anthony Phillips out in front who rushed for 105 yards and one TD.

Highland didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Stockdale to a completion percentage of just 37%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from four players: Randy Davenport Jr., Luke Parra, Payton Reyes, and Adrian Talamantez Cuadras, who each logged one passes deflected. Highland wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 50%.

Highland's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Ozzie Sierra was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.

When it comes to explaining why Stockdale lost, don't look at Devontay Oats. Despite the final result, he rushed for 128 yards and one score on only 13 carries, and also threw for 86 yards and one touchdown.

Highland has also opened the season with a perfect 2-0 record. As for Stockdale, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Highland has already played their next matchup, a 41-13 loss against Kennedy on the 4th. As for Stockdale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 50-14 defeat against Bakersfield on the 4th.
