Softball Recap: Kettle Moraine Lutheran Comes Up Short

Kettle Moraine Lutheran fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Wisconsin Lutheran on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 4-3. If the Chargers were looking for revenge after losing 5-0 to the Vikings when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kettle Moraine Lutheran saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenzie Luehring, who went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases and one run. Luehring is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Bella Paz also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Kettle Moraine Lutheran has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Wisconsin Lutheran, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-1.

Kettle Moraine Lutheran and Wisconsin Lutheran should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Chargers (ranked 112th) will meet Berlin (ranked 300th) at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Wisconsin Lutheran will square off against Lake Mills at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (5 vs. 179).
