Kennedy took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Denver West, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Kennedy Commanders narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Denver West Cowboys 3-2. This was payback for the Commanders, who suffered a 3-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kennedy was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (107-102), but they still managed to win. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 16-25, 19-25, 27-25, 15-9.

Kennedy's win on Wednesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kevin Nguyen, who had 13 digs and three assists.

Kennedy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 26 aces. They served 13 more aces than Denver West's also-impressive total of 13.

Kennedy's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Denver West, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kennedy will welcome George Washington on Friday. Kennedy is facing George Washington at the right time seeing as George Washington is stuck on a six-game losing streak. Denver West will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hinkley at 6:00 p.m. on April 4th.
