Port of Los Angeles falls despite strong effort from Gared Almazan

Recap: Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears vs. Harbor Teacher Monarchs

The Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears pushed their score all the way to 57 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to Harbor Teacher. Port of Los Angeles was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Harbor Teacher apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Despite the loss, Port of Los Angeles still got an impressive performance from Gared Almazan, who scored 30 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. Almazan scored a full 52.6% of Port of Los Angeles' points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jared Maldonado, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Port of Los Angeles and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Harbor Teacher, their win bumped their record up to an identical 3-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port of Los Angeles will take on View Park at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Harbor Teacher will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Nogales at 7:30 p.m. on December 26th.
