Basketball Recap: Steinmetz College Prep Takes a Loss

Steinmetz College Prep has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 24.13 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They were outmatched by the Chicago Academy Cougars and fell 55-5. The Silver Streaks have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chicago Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Destiny Rodriguez, who posted 19 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rodriguez has scored at least a third of Chicago Academy's points. Maribel Correa was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Steinmetz College Prep's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Chicago Academy, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-9.

Steinmetz College Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chicago Academy, they will be playing at home against Noble Street College Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Noble Street College Prep's defense has only allowed 25.6 points per game this season, so Chicago Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
