Softball Game Preview: Gray Stone Day Knights vs. Montgomery Central Timberwolves

The Gray Stone Day Knights will challenge the Montgomery Central Timberwolves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Gray Stone Day lost 15-3 to Wheatmore on Friday. The loss was the Knights' first of the season.

Cheyenne Efird was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Lynley Pittman was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Montgomery Central put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Richmond with a sharp 24-12 victory. The Timberwolves' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Emma Parnell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Genesis Marin was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kenley Morse, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her seven plate appearances.

Montgomery Central's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Gray Stone Day, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
