Basketball Recap: Mount Dora Victorious

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Mount Dora ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-43 victory over the Hernando Leopards. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hurricanes have posted since January 18, 2024.

They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Taejah Bosch and Meralis Garcia, who each put up ten points.

Hernando's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was MaryLylah Chappell, who posted 11 points. That's the most points Chappell has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aajyrah Adams, who had 12 points.

Mount Dora's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Hernando, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.

Mount Dora wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 52-34 defeat against Cornerstone Charter Academy on the 24th. Hernando has also already played their next contest (against Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
