Basketball Recap: Harding Academy Continues Home Dominance on Monday

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Harding Academy had no problem doing just that on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the St. George's Gryphons 62-21. The win was familiar territory for the Lions, who have now won five contests in a row.

Harding Academy found their leader in sophomore Bella Rose Austin, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave Austin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emory Miller, who went 7-for-11 on her way to 14 points and eight boards.

Harding Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 30 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 15 consecutive games.

Harding Academy pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.6 points over those games. As for St. George's, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 16 of their last 18 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-22 record this season.

Coming up, Harding Academy will face off against Jackson Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. St. George's does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
