Baseball Recap: Hesperia Has No Trouble Against Indio

Hesperia never let their opponents score on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Indio Rajahs with a sharp 18-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Scorpions, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Brenden Ozaki looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tristen Vanpool was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Mayer, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Hesperia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .525. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Hesperia's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Indio, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hesperia will venture away from home to challenge Serrano at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hesperia is facing Serrano at the right time seeing as Serrano is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Indio, they will head out to face off against Coachella Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Coachella Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Indio's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
