Everyone inside the ballroom could sense the significance of the occasion as a Texas State Senator, State House Representative and the Mayor of Duncanville each gave a proclamation honoring the team as the players, coaches and trainer received a key to the city of Duncanville.

Next, MaxPreps representative Dustin Gaines addressed the crowd and announced that the Pantherettes finished as the No. 1 team in the nation out of over 14,000 teams in the MaxPreps rankings for the third time in the last five years. He also commended the team on its perfect 39-0 season and UIL 6A state title.

For the main event, Gaines introduced Sergeant First Class Dawn Robbins of the Texas Army National Guard who took center stage with the enormous Minuteman trophy at her side. SFC Robbins proceeded to recognize the team’s tremendous accomplishments and challenged the Pantherettes to stick to the traits that has led them to their success this season. Finally, SFC Robbins handed over the Army National Guard national ranking trophy to head coach Cathy Self-Morgan to cap off Duncanville's perfect season.

Coach Self-Morgan — 2016 Texas Basketball Hall of Fame inductee — thanked the parents, fans and students for their support during their flawless season. With the Minuteman trophy and nationally ranked rafter banner in hand, Coach Self-Morgan and the team continued to cherish the moment.

Congratulations to the Duncanville Pantherettes on a great season and high national ranking!
