League recap: Naples tops Palmetto Ridge to extend winning streak

Naples extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 12 this week by beating Palmetto Ridge, 64-7. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Golden Eagles.

Barron Collier and Immokalee played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Barron Collier eventually emerging with a 12-9 victory.

Kilton Anderson and Manny Morgan gave Naples a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Anderson threw for 159 yards and two touchdowns, while Morgan ran for 93 yards. Max Joseph also contributed to the rushing game with 84 yards on the ground.

Javion Morgan was the best wideout in the league this week as the Bears fell to Bill Kramer's team. Morgan racked up two receptions for 74 yards. Austin Kelly helped Palmetto Ridge's passing attack out by catching one ball for nine yards.

Palmetto Ridge's Sean Hatch and Morgan have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 6A District 12 in both passing and receiving yards. Hatch has thrown for 791 yards this season, while Morgan has 26 catches for 559 yards. Morgan from the Golden Eagles leads the league in rushing with 1077 yards.

The Cougars made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,692 from 3,250. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 12-9 victory over the Indians last week.
