Baseball Recap: Morgantown's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

If Morgantown was feeling good fresh off their 11-5 takedown of Parkersburg South last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Morgantown fell just short of the Wheeling Park Patriots by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday. The Mohigans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Morgantown saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vincent Aloi, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave Aloi a new career-high. Eli Boggs was another, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Aloi wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Morgantown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Morgantown fell to 2-1. As for Wheeling Park, the win keeps they at an undefeated 5-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morgantown will head out to take on Cabell Midland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wheeling Park, they will venture away from home to challenge St. Albans at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
