Softball Recap: Delavan-Darien Comes Up Short

Delavan-Darien extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-5. They lost 19-0 to the Big Foot Chiefs. If the Comets were looking for revenge after losing 13-0 to the Chiefs when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Big Foot, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games.

For Big Foot's part, Brooklyn Stewart was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Stewart was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Big Foot let Kate Hummel and Leah Paulsen run wild. Hummel went 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Paulsen got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Mylee Walter also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Delavan-Darien has already played their next game, an 8-2 loss against Lake Country Lutheran on the 24th. As for Big Foot, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-9 win against Whitewater on the 23rd.
