Softball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Mccollum's Winning Streak

McCollum managed to slip by Southwest the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The McCollum Cowboys came up short against the Southwest Dragons on Tuesday, falling 9-2. The Cowboys' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

RUIZ MADELYNN spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, McCollum saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was MARTINEZ LAUREN, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

McCollum's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Southwest, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

McCollum will square off against Jay at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. McCollum's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Jay's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Southwest, they will face off against Medina Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
