Basketball Recap: Faustina Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Marcos Mollo and CJ Agu

After flying high against Flint Academy last Monday, Faustina Academy came back down to earth. The Faustina Academy Falcons took a hard 66-47 fall against the Lakewood Presbyterian Knights on Tuesday. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

CJ Agu and Marcos Mollo certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Agu posted 19 points along with seven boards and three steals, while Mollo dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Agu is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dan Nelson, who earned three points and five boards.

It was another big night for Steven Montgomery, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds for Lakewood Presbyterian. Lakewood Presbyterian is 8-2 when Montgomery posts ten or more boards, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Yarnell Freitas, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks.

Faustina Academy's record is now 4-2. As for Lakewood Presbyterian, their record now sits at 9-6.

Faustina Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-45 victory against Coram Deo Academy Rhetoric on the 17th. As for Lakewood Presbyterian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 69-49 loss against Harvest Christian Academy on the 17th.
