Softball Recap: Green Hope Falcons vs. Apex Cougars
Green Hope extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 8-14 in the process. They lost 8-1 to the Apex Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-8 back in March.
Ainsley Campbell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run.
As for Apex, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.
On Apex's side, Audrey Mulaski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Mulaski has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Leah Kendall, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Libby Austin, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
