Basketball Recap: Carolina Academy Comes Up Short

Carolina Academy played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 58-30 loss at the hands of the Powdersville Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 228th, while the Patriots are ranked 58th).

Powdersville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Makayla Assemian, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards. The game was Assemian's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Raegan Bryant, who posted 11 points along with seven assists and five steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Carolina Academy and nudges their season record down to 2-13. As for Powdersville, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Carolina Academy has already played their next match (against Christ Church Episcopal), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Powdersville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 100-36 victory against Palmetto on the 24th.
