Basketball Recap: Bralen Searles' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Strom Thurmond over Dutch Fork

Strom Thurmond lost against Dutch Fork back in December of 2014 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Strom Thurmond Rebels came up short against the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes, falling 62-38. The Rebels' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Strom Thurmond lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Bralen Searles, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Daley Hitt, who posted nine points.

Dutch Fork was led to victory by Justus Bell and Samajae Govan. Bell went 8 of 12 on his way to 19 points, while Govan had ten points and five steals. Caleb Garner was another key player, putting up six points.

Strom Thurmond's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Dutch Fork, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Strom Thurmond wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 69-44 defeat against Union County on the 30th. As for Dutch Fork, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-56 win against Abbeville on the 30th.
