Basketball Preview: GVCS Broadfording Lions vs. Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers
GVCS Broadfording is 9-1 against the Blazers since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The GVCS Broadfording Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers at 8:30 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for GVCS Broadfording and four for the Blazers.
Last Saturday, GVCS Broadfording took a serious blow against the Blue Storm, falling 70-38. GVCS Broadfording was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-19.
GVCS Broadfording's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brandon Monroe, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Jordan Shifler who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Cumberland Valley Christian lost to the Eagles at home by a decisive 54-37 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Cumberland Valley Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 251st in Pennsylvania, while the Eagles are ranked 55th in Maryland).
GVCS Broadfording's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-22. As for Cumberland Valley Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
GVCS Broadfording took a serious blow against the Blazers when the teams last played back in February of 2021, falling 75-48. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point GVCS Broadfording was down 41-21.
