Basketball Game Preview: Ellis Railroaders vs. Hoxie Indians

Ellis is 1-9 against Hoxie since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Ellis Railroaders will challenge the Hoxie Indians at 6:00 p.m.

Last Thursday, Ellis came up short against Thomas More Prep-Marian and fell 56-45.

Ellis' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Aiden Aschenbrenner, who posted 14 points, and Caleb Noble-Heit, who scored nine points along with six boards and three steals. Aschenbrenner has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Baylor Born also deserves some recognition as he scored his first point of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hoxie). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Decatur Community 73-46. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 27 points or more this season.

Hoxie now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Ellis, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Ellis came up short against Hoxie in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 50-46. Can Ellis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
