Basketball Recap: Northeast Vikings vs. St. Petersburg Green Devils
Northeast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by the St. Petersburg Green Devils and fell 54-16. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 549th, while the Green Devils are ranked 156th).
Despite the defeat, Northeast saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jy'Aira Washington posted seven points and three steals. Washington is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Even though they lost, Northeast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.
It was another big night for Shaw Summer, who went 8 of 12 on her way to 19 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals for St. Petersburg. The team also got some help courtesy of Quay Curry, who had six points.
Northeast's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for St. Petersburg, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeast will head out to take on Seminole at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Petersburg, they will head out on the road to square off against Dunedin at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. St. Petersburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season.
