Football Recap: Deltona Wolves vs. University Titans

Deltona lost against University back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Deltona Wolves were beaten by the University Titans 46-7. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 278th, while the Titans are ranked 70th).

Jeremiah Hancock threw for 72 yards on nine of 20 attempts. Cassidy Maldonado was his top target, picking up 48 receiving yards. On the ground, Damarion Phillips rushed for 28 yards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead University to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anthony May, who rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Jabailey Morris, who rushed for 48 yards and three touchdowns.

This is the second loss in a row for Deltona and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for University, the victory for them keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Deltona will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against DeLand at 7:00 p.m. DeLand knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 point or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Deltona likes a good challenge. As for University, they will venture away from home to face off against Eau Gallie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (University: 13.8, Eau Gallie: 7.5) so any points scored will be well earned.
