Flag Football Recap: Standley Lake Keeps Steamboat Springs' Under Pressure

If Standley Lake was feeling good fresh off their 70-0 takedown of Wheat Ridge on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gators took a 7-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Steamboat Springs Sailors on Saturday.

Even if they lost, Standley Lake's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Samantha Heath, Lexi Brandon, and Rae Coronado Coronado, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Standley Lake has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Steamboat Springs, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.

Coincidentally, Standley Lake and Steamboat Springs will both be playing Dakota Ridge the next time they take the field. The Sailors will head out to face the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Gators will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
