Basketball Recap: Florida Christian Takes a Loss

After flying high against Pinecrest Glades Academy last Wednesday, Florida Christian came back down to earth. The Florida Christian Patriots were beaten by the Westminster Christian Warriors 70-37 on Thursday. The contest marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Leading Westminster Christian to victory were Dwight Whipple and Julian Crespo. Whipple went 5 for 8 en route to 17 points and five assists, while Crespo went 7 of 14 on his way to 21 points. Another player making a difference was Cooper Whitby, who posted ten points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Florida Christian dropped their record down to 13-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Westminster Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-5.

Florida Christian and Westminster Christian should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Florida Christian will square off against Schoolhouse Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Monday up 277 places (170 vs. 447). Meanwhile, Westminster Christian (ranked 60th) will meet Mater Biscayne Academy (ranked 550th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
