The Pacelli Cardinals will face off against the Amherst Falcons at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pacelli will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Pacelli's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Tuesday, when they got past Rosholt's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 12-2 win. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Lucas Haemmerle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Haemmerle was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jaden Garski was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Malise Beduhn, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Amherst's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost 11-0 to Wittenberg-Birnamwood. The Falcons were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but the Chargers' pitchers proved too tough.
Amherst's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-3. As for Pacelli, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Amherst's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pacelli hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. It's a different story for Amherst, though, as they've only averaged .221. Will they be able to contain Pacelli's hitters?
Pacelli couldn't quite get it done against Amherst in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Will the Cardinals have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
