Baseball Game Preview: Juab Wasps vs. Carbon Dinos

The Juab Wasps are taking a road trip to take on the Carbon Dinos at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Juab is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Juab will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against North Sanpete on Thursday. The Wasps blew past the Hawks 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Wasps, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Connor Cowan made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Trevin Park and Madix Stowell did most of the damage at the plate: Park got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Stowell went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Stowell a new career-high. Austin Park was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Juab always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Sanpete only posted an OBP of .238.

Meanwhile, Carbon never let their opponents score. They won by a run and slipped past Juab 1-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dinos.

Carbon's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Nichols, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Juab is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Carbon, their win bumped their record up to 8-12.
