Soccer Game Preview: Westwood vs. Palestine

Westwood hasn't had much luck against Palestine recently, but that could start to change on Friday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Westwood challenge the Palestine at 6:30 p.m. Westwood's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Diboll who was credited with the victory on Tuesday. Diboll got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Westwood's four.

Westwood's goal came courtesy of Elena St. Cyr, who's now up to seven this season.

Westwood will be up against a hot Palestine team: the squad just extended their winning streak to six. Palestine was the clear victor by an 8-1 margin over Hudson on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five matchups by five goals or more so far this season.

Palestine has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 39 goals over those eight contests. As for Westwood, they now have a losing record at 7-8-1.

Westwood suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Palestine when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Westwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
