Baseball Recap: Manzano Wins Going Away Against West Mesa

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Manzano and West Mesa, and Manzano kept the tradition alive. The Manzano Monarchs were the clear victor by an 18-8 margin over the West Mesa Mustangs on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Monarchs in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

Aljaris Pineda and Braeden Lucero did most of the damage at the plate: Pineda went 4-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI, while Lucero got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Maui Cherino also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

The win got Manzano back to even at 2-2. As for West Mesa, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Manzano will have a chance to go back-to-back against West Mesa: the pair will be back at it again later today.
