With a playoff win on the line, Malakoff rose to the challenge on Thursday. They came out on top against the Paradise Panthers by a score of 27-19. The Tigers' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Leading Malakoff to victory were Jason Tennyson and Mike Jones. Tennyson rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns, while Jones rushed for 56 yards. Jack Hustead made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Malakoff didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hustead and James Studley. Another thorn in Paradise's side was Parker Poteete, who made 19 total tackles.
Despite the loss, Paradise still got an impressive performance from Luke Brown, who rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also picked up 36 receiving yards. Brown got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 59 yards.
Malakoff's victory bumped their record up to 15-0. As for Paradise, the defeat snapped their winning streak at 11 games and leaves them with a 12-3 record.
A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Malakoff Tigers take on the Columbus Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. One thing working in Columbus' favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. Paradise does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
