Football Recap: Chillicothe Piles Up the Points Against Lafayette

While Chillicothe put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Lafayette. The Hornets simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Fighting Irish 35-0. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Fighting Irish: they've now won four in a row.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Chillicothe's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Henry Hurtgen, Tyler Lehmann, and Jaishon White, who each picked up one sack apiece. Chillicothe got some further help from Hurtgen: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Chillicothe's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-4. As for Lafayette, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Chillicothe will head out on the road to face off against Savannah at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will need to watch out since the Savages have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups. As for Lafayette, they will welcome Cameron at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Fighting Irish will be up against the Dragons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.67 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
