Recap: Largo Packers vs. Countryside Cougars

The Largo Packers fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Countryside Cougars on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 65-58 to the Cougars. While losing is never fun, Largo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 409th, while Countryside is ranked 96th).

When it comes to explaining why Largo lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mikayla Paschal. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds. Paschal scored a full 41.4% of Largo's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kiara Sprague, who scored 16 points.

Countryside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ally Wright, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. The contest was Wright's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Brooks, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds.

Largo has fallen quite a ways from their 14-6 record last season and are now at 2-4. As for Countryside, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

Largo won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Northeast at 7:45 p.m. on December 13th. Hopefully Northeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Monday. Countryside won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pinellas Park at 7:45 p.m. on December 13th. Pinellas Park has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
