Baseball Game Preview: Pembroke Dragons vs. Kendall Eagles

Pembroke is 1-6 against Kendall since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Dragons will be playing at home against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated (Pembroke has four wins , while Kendall has five dating back to last season).

Pembroke's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Byron-Bergen. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won three contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Austin Humphrey made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. Humphrey was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Pembroke let Anthony Abbatiello and Connor Czwojdak run wild. Abbatiello went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Czwojdak went 2-for-3 with five RBI and one double. That triple marked the first that Abbatiello has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Brayden Lang, who went 1-for-3 with three runs.

Pembroke kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in ten consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Kendall ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Livonia 6-5.

Pembroke's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Kendall, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

Pembroke suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Kendall in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
