Baseball Game Preview: Hialeah Thoroughbreds vs. Hialeah Gardens Gladiators

The Hialeah Thoroughbreds will head out on the road to face off against the Hialeah Gardens Gladiators at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Hialeah turned things around against Hialeah Educational Academy on Tuesday. They blew past the Biggie 15-8. Considering the Thoroughbreds' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

The team relied heavily on Alex Perez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Alejandro De Armas also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Hialeah was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Hialeah Gardens entered their tilt with Reagan on Wednesday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the Bison get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory.

Anthony Alvarez looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hialeah Gardens is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Hialeah Gardens got a massive performance out of Nicholas Ceballos, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Carlos Victorero, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

The win got Hialeah Gardens back to even at 8-8. As for Hialeah, their record now sits at 4-5.

Hialeah suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Hialeah Gardens when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Hialeah avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
