The Burrillville Broncos will head out on the road to face off against the Portsmouth Patriots at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Burrillville made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Mt. Hope, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Broncos never let the Huskies get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Wednesday. That 18 run margin sets a new team best for the Broncos this season.

The team relied heavily on Olivia Audette, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Joyal, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and four RBI.
Burrillville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mt. Hope only posted a batting average of .267.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Portsmouth, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They blew past North Providence 15-0 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Patriots needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Mia Ruggieri made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Ruggieri was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Lilly Morgado was a standout: she scored a run while going 2-for-3. Kaylyn Aubuchon also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Portsmouth pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Burrillville, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Burrillville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Portsmouth struggles in that department as they've averaged .500. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Burrillville might still be hurting after the 19-0 loss they got from Portsmouth when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Broncos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
