Basketball Recap: West Starts Season with Defeat at Home

West unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 52-34 fall against the Woods Cross Wildcats on Friday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why West lost, don't look at Elijah Albertson. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was David Garcia, who had six points.

Woods Cross' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bryson Watson led the charge by putting up 14 points. Watson is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Elliot Bendinger was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds.

West will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on West Field at 7:00 p.m. on December 2. As for Woods Cross, they have already played their next contest, a 76-51 victory against Murray on the 25th.
