Softball Recap: Valley View Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

On Thursday Valley View's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Temescal Canyon Titans, sneaking past 2-0. The two-run effort marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

The result came thanks to Bella Hernandez's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Valley View saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ato Laumatia, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Valley View pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Temescal Canyon, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley View will square off against Redlands at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Valley View's pitching crew has only allowed one run per game this season, so Redlands' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Temescal Canyon, they will face off against Santiago at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Temescal Canyon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
