Staunton River has gone a perfect 8-0 against Magna Vista recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Golden Eagles will square off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Staunton River will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Christiansburg on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles put the hurt on the Blue Demons with a sharp 12-2 victory. Considering the Golden Eagles have won three games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Payton Evans made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Evans was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Staunton River got a massive performance out of Kaylee Maxfield, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Jaidyn Roach was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Staunton River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christiansburg only posted an OBP of .292.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Magna Vista). They never let George Washington get on the board and left with a 21-0 win on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Magna Vista's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-4. As for Staunton River, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Everything went Staunton River's way against Magna Vista in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Staunton River made off with a 19-1 win. Do the Golden Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
