Softball Game Preview: Amelia Academy Patriots vs. Tidewater Academy Warriors

Amelia Academy is 0-6 against Tidewater Academy since April of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Tidewater Academy took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Amelia Academy, who comes in off a win.

Amelia Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Westover Christian Academy with a sharp 20-3 win. The Patriots' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Molly Lane made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, Amelia Academy got a massive performance out of Isabella Long, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Long a new career-high. Kerrie Wallace was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.

Amelia Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Tidewater Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against Kenston Forest, falling 19-0.

Amelia Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-11. As for Tidewater Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-11.

Amelia Academy couldn't quite get it done against Tidewater Academy in their previous meeting on April 1st as they fell 12-9. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
