Volleyball Recap: Columbus Starts Season with Win at Home

Columbus gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They skirted past the Northgate Vikings 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted since September 12, 2024.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Columbus got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 13-25, 15-9.

Among those leading the charge was Jaslyn Watts, who had 11 digs and three aces. What's more, she posted three assists, the most she's had since back in August of 2024.

Northgate dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Columbus and Northgate will both be playing Trinity Christian the next time they take the court. The Vikings will head out to face the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Blue Devils will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
