Baseball Recap: Northern Garrett Find Success

Northern Garrett hadn't done well against Allegany recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Huskies came out on top against the Campers by a score of 6-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-8 back in March.

Luke Ross spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on nine hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Northern Garrett let Devin McKenzie and Wally Brands run wild. McKenzie scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Brands scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits McKenzie has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nick Riley, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Northern Garrett kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Northern Garrett's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Allegany, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northern Garrett will square off against Petersburg at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Allegany, they will challenge GVCS Broadfording at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
